  • Permanent Residence (Skilled Regional) visa (subclass 191) – This visa option will be available from November 2022.
  • Victoria Skilled Migration Program: It is a Skilled Migration Program (190/491 visas) for candidates working in Victoria STEMM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths or Medical Science) skills are eligible for this visa.

Temporary skilled visas

  • Skilled Regional visa (Provisional) (Subclass 489) – New applications to this visa are not accepted anymore. However, the pathway to extended stay for those who have already obtained the visa as well as the provision for a subsequent entrant is still open to eligible applicants.

Process of Applying for an Australia Work Visa in 2022

Applying for a skilled visa

  • First, you have to submit an online EOI on SkillSelect.
  • The profile submitted on SkillSelect will be scrutinized and points will be assigned for factors such as education, age, work skill, and proficiency in the English language.
  • If your profile succeeds in getting selected you may get a nomination from a state/territory in Australia or an employer in Australia. Then you become eligible to apply for a work visa in Australia.

Applying for a sponsored visa

  • A prerequisite is that you must get sponsorship from a business in Australia. The employer in Australia sponsoring you must be an approved sponsor.
  • Once your employer applied to nominate/sponsor you, you can apply for a sponsored visa. In the application, you will have to mention your nomination TRN or application ID given by your employer in Australia.
