Modes of TOEFL Test

A TOEFL test can be taken in three modes, including TOEFL Test on Paper, TOEFL iBT (Internet-based Test), and TOEFL Home Edition.

TOEFL iBT (Internet-based Test):

This is the most preferred mode of the TOEFL test due to its convenient and less complex process. It alone represents over 98% of the total number of TOEFL tests that is appeared worldwide. This test is held online at a test center chosen by the candidates at their convenience.

TOEFL iBT Test on Paper:

In this edition the 4 skills are tested in two sessions.

Session 1: Reading, Listening, and Writing sections on a paper at examination centre.

Session 2: Speaking section is held at your home on your computer within 3 days after session 1. This will be monitored by a human proctor.

TOEFL Home Edition:

In response to the pandemic, ETS has started conducting the TOEFL Home Edition. Through this mode, candidates can appear for the test in the comfort of their homes. However, candidates must ensure that they have all the equipment required for taking the test from home.
