What is the new immigration program of Alberta?

The announcement for the immigration program was made on Wednesday by the authorities of Alberta. The authorities stated that 25% of the nominations in the Express Entry pool would be allotted to newcomers with family members in Alberta. The applicants should have the skills in demand in the province.

The minister of trade, immigration, and multiculturalism of Alberta, Rajan Sawhney, stated that the new immigration program would help address the ongoing workforce shortage while streamlining the immigration process for foreign nationals.

Alberta is allotted 6,500 nomination certificates annually, and 815 of those slots are expected to be used under the new stream in 2023.

The stream of Alberta Express Entry facilitates the province to select a certain number of qualified foreign nationals from the IRCC or Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada's system of Express Entry.
