Higher standard of Canadian immigration to address labor shortages

The Global Talent Stream applications are mainly processed under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program, referring to a collection of work permits that welcomes newcomers to migrate to Canada on a temporary work permit to fill a specific labor need.

To be eligible for the Global Talent Stream, the Canadian employer must be eligible in any one of the two categories mentioned below:

Category A: Designated Partner Referral

For employers who are working in Canada to be eligible through this category, they must be referred by any one of the Global Talent Stream-appointed partner organizations and hiring specialized and unique talent.

Category B: In-Demand Occupation

To be eligible through this category, the Canadian employer must be hiring to fill a position on the Global Talent Occupations List, and this list is for highly skilled, in-demand occupations. The position also must pay wages that are equal or above the prevailing wage for that particular position.

The employer can begin the Global Talent Stream application once they have confirmed their eligibility for either of the streams. The application form is available on the GTS official website and can be submitted online, by mail or by fax. The application requires information regarding the employer, the foreign worker, as well as the job offer, including details about compensation and benefits.

How does the Global Talent Stream work?

For the individuals living outside Canada and are willing to get temporary work permit as a part of the Global Talent Stream, will not be able to apply for it directly. Only an employer living in Canada will be eligible to apply under the Global Talent Stream.

So it is important to keep in mind and provide a job offer from a Canadian employer who qualifies for the program where their skill set must fall under the specialized talent that they are particularly looking for.

Although the Global Talent Stream provides a temporary work permit for up to three years, it is acknowledged and known as an excellent pathway to Canada's permanent immigration.

The Provincial Nominee Programs of Canada allows participating territories and provinces to choose a lot of economic immigrants every year and then nominate them for permanent residence. These PNP streams are mainly designed to target immigrants matching the specific labor market and economic needs of those regions.

Canada Immigration Plan 2022-2024

Canada is all set to invite over 1.3 million new immigrants between 2022 and 2024, with nearly two-thirds of immigrants arriving through economic streams.

Global Talent Stream (GTS), a part of the TFWP, is granting work permits and visa application procedures within two weeks of time. That specific standard of service has been impacted and about to be implemented because of the huge backlog of applications before the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
