Abstract: The UAE passport has been ranked No.1 by a Canada-based financial advisory group.

Arton Capital, a financial advisory firm based in Montreal, Canada conducted research to find the world's most powerful passport. It released its conclusions in a publication titled "Passport Index".

The research concluded that the passport of the UAE is the most powerful. The other countries in the top 5 for passports are:

• Germany
• Sweden
• Finland
• Luxembourg

How powerful is the UAE passport?

The UAE has an oil-oriented economy administered by sheikhdom in the Gulf region.  The population in the country is approximately 10 million, among whom around 90% are foreign expats.

If an individual possesses a UAE passport, they can travel to multiple countries without a visa or can apply for a visa when they arrive. Passports were ranked on the basis of mobility and liberty of travel. The passport provides access to 121 countries and a visa free visit to 19 countries. They can apply for a visa when they arrive in 59 other nations.

It provides easy access to 91% of the world without a visa. The passport of the UAE has a mobility score of 180.

The methodology used in the report considers the privileges of visa-free and visa on arrival factors and if the mobility score is higher, the better mobility across the world the passport offers.
