On September 5, 2022, The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP), has declared the advancement of technological services that will offer an improved and updated visa system. The visa holders are allowed to stay in the country for six months even though their visa is revoked or expired.

The modified system of the arrival and residence of immigrants in the UAE aims to retain and attract skilled workers and global talents from all across the world.

On September 5, 2022, The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP), which provides passports to the coming generation in the UAE, declared the advancement of technological services that will offer an improved and updated visa system.

The advanced visa process is expected to boost the flexibility and competitiveness of the labor market and promote exceptional stability amongst the residents and their families in the UAE. A few visa holders are allowed to stay in the country for six months, in spite of their visas being canceled.

10 features of the revised UAE visa process If you are planning to start a business, work or reside in the UAE, here are the ten features that you must know about the revised UAE visa system.

  1. The UAE will introduce the modified visa system from October 3, 2022.
  2. The possibilities for residency in the country are no longer dependent on the employer, as they are eligible for self-sponsorship under the revised visa system. One of the primary reasons to initiate the new system is to, strengthen the residents’ approach towards work, investment, and living in the UAE, for a pleasant experience.
  3. The validity of the Green Visa which has been for two or three years, is now replaced with five-year validity.
  4. The individuals with a Green residence visa will be self-sponsored and will be able to sponsor their immediate family or relatives.
  5. The visa holders are allowed to stay in the country for six months even though their visa is revoked or expired. But if their visa is canceled, they can stay in the country for up to one month.
  6. You are allowed to apply for a Green Visa in the UAE; provided you meet the following eligibility criteria in which you have to be:
    • A Self-employed or independent worker
    • A budding associate or financier
    • A Skilled worker
  7. You need not have a sponsor in the country to acquire a visa, as the categories of the new entrance permit have been introduced. The types of new entrance permits are:
  • Job applicant visas
  • Visas that help pursue various business opportunities
  • Visas to pursue investment probabilities
  1. The latest entry permits are for a short term and will not allow visits that last for a year according to the Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP).
  2. You are eligible to use your resident card in the United Arab Emirates, as your validity remains in case you have stayed for more than six months in the country.
  3. The Green Visa holders are now eligible to sponsor their children up to the age of 25 unlike the current restriction of 18 years of age.
