Alberta PNP welcomes 400 Express Entry candidates, offers nomination

The month of August 2021 ended on a positive note in Canada with Alberta holding an Alberta PNP draw on August 30, 2021. Through the event, 400 Express Entry candidates got invitations sent to them to apply for a provincial nomination. They were required to have a minimum CRS score of 301 to qualify for receiving invitations.

As this round of invitations concluded, the total number of Express Entry candidates invited to Alberta so far in 2021 reached 4,007. Alberta can invite 6,500 candidates in 2021. This means there are more Express Entry candidates to be invited soon to Alberta.

Alberta is looking for skilled immigrants

Much like other Canadian provinces, Alberta needs more skilled and qualified workers to take up in-demand job positions in the province. For this, Alberta PNP conducts invitation rounds. The Alberta Express Entry System allows these provinces to find suitable candidates from the Express Entry pool.

The suitable candidates are then issued invitations to apply for a provincial nomination. With a provincial nomination, it becomes easier for them to apply for a Canada PR visa and get one.

As of now, Alberta is looking for skilled workers in in-demand occupations. These include:

  • Trade managers – Retail and wholesale
  • Computer programmers & interactive media developers
  • Information system analysts & consultants
  • Licensed nurses
  • Residential and commercial installers as well as services
  • Graphic designers & Illustrators

The Alberta PNP draws act as a pathway for skilled and experienced candidates in these occupations to migrate to Alberta and take up these occupations.

Eligibility for Alberta Express Entry stream

You are required to possess work experience in an occupation deemed eligible so that you become eligible for provincial nomination through the Alberta Express Entry stream. The eligible occupations are the ones that aren’t on the list of non-eligible occupations given by AINP.

To have a better chance of getting a nomination from Alberta, these will be helpful to have:

  • Work experience
  • A Canadian education
  • Job offer in Alberta
  • A parent, sibling, or child who is already a Canada PR or a Canadian citizen living in Alberta
