The Immigration Minister of Canada, Sean Fraser, is planning to extend the permanent residence pathways, especially for temporary foreign workers and international students.

A strategy to extend the conversion of temporary residence to permanent residence was tabled by the Canadian immigration Minister on September 20, 2022. This extension is for international students and foreign workers who have remarkable work experience, in the sectors that constantly encounter labor shortages.
In order to help the temporary residents to get Canada PR, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will initiate a five-method approach.
The government will make use of the current immigration targets that have been decided for the period of 2022- 2024. Canada is expecting 431,645 immigrants for the year 2022. IRCC outlines the immigration target for 2023-2025, before November 1, 2022.

In order to allow IRCC to welcome immigrants depending on the economic goals of the country, the government needs to improve the Express Entry system. It is predicted that the new Express Entry draws will start in the first quarter of 2023.
