Sean Fraser, the Immigration Minister of Canada, has announced to start of new category-based selection draws for the candidates applying for Express Entry for Canada.
Candidates with good work experience in the below 6 fields and applying for Express Entry will be targeted by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC):
The Minister also announced that permitting Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to invite more skilled workers in the specialized professions. These candidates who can support Canada’s workforce demands are mostly invited.

The aim of the new categories is to fill the job vacancies across the country. For the labour shortage, immigration is considered a main component for reducing the shortage and growing the quality of the French language in the French minority community outside of Quebec.
Minister Sean Fraser also mentioned that employers all over the country are experiencing a long-term shortage of labour, and these changes in Express Entry will help them to hire more skilled workers for growth.
These category-based draws are expected to start this year according to the changes made last year, June 2022, to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. The changes are made by the authority to select candidates with attributes to support Canada’s economic priorities.
This new category will help Canada in business growth with labour and growth in the economy along with the French-speaking candidates to help ensure the vitality of French-speaking communities.
The categories are chosen based on the following legislative requirements that Minister participates in the worker advocacy groups, settlement provider organizations, immigration researchers and practitioners, and public consultation with provinces.
