A job offer is not required to immigrate to Canada as there are various immigration programs through which you can be eligible, depending on your study or work experience.

More than 100 economic-class immigration gateways are available to migrate to Canada. This excludes family and refugee-class immigration programs that do not consider job offers or other human capital factors under concern.

Below is a list of Canadian immigration programs available to newcomers without a job lined up in Canada.

*Check your eligibility criteria with the help of the Y-Axis Canada Immigration Points Calculator.

Express Entry

Express Entry is a system that manages applications for the immigration programs listed below:

These three programs have the requirements for work experience, and it isn't necessary to have a Canadian job offer to be eligible.

The immigration candidates eligible for one program at least will be scored depending on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which gives points for the factors like age, education, work experience, and language ability.

The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invites the immigration candidates with the highest score in the Express Entry to register for the Canadian immigration every two weeks.

IRCC is said to invite the FSWP and CEC candidates to apply once again after halting the draws to gain on a backlog caused by the pandemic.

Earlier to 2022, Express Entry, an immigration program, was the primary gateway to migration. Another critical pathway is the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). The PNP provides the liberty to the territories and provinces to choose their immigration programs where some of these programs need not require job offers.

Here is an overview of PNP's options, listed from the majority to minimally populated provinces.

Ontario Human Capital Priorities Stream

Each year, around one-third of all the newcomers to Canada choose the province of Ontario. Possibly 8,000 immigrants receive nominations from Ontario each year. The individuals prefer settling in Ontario for its high wages, employment opportunities, and diverse population.

BC skills immigration international Post-Graduate

With a graduate degree in science from a highly-reputed British Columbia institution, you can attain a permanent residence in Canada without the necessity of the job offer.

The science graduates from British Columbia may hold the eligibility to apply under the Skills Immigration-International Graduate category.

Under this category, the government of British Columbia invites immigration candidates who have completed a Ph.D. master's degree in the below applied, health sciences, or natural programs:

  • Biological and biomedical sciences
  • Engineering
  • Mathematics and statistics
  • Agriculture
  • Health professions and related clinical sciences
  • Physical sciences
  • Engineering technology
  • Computer and information sciences and support services
  • Natural resources conservation and research

Alberta Express Entry

There is no requirement to have a job offer in the Alberta Express Entry Stream.

To receive invitations from Alberta under this stream, the immigration candidates must build an Express Entry profile and portray their interest in settling permanently in Alberta.

The following are the essential eligibility criteria for the Alberta Express Entry Stream.

They must have:

  • A valid Express Entry profile in the Express Entry system of the IRCC
  • Mentioned an interest in immigrating to Alberta
  • Worked in a profession that helps in the economic development of Alberta
  • A minimum CRS score of 300

Saskatchewan Express Entry and Occupations In Demand

Among the various immigration streams of Saskatchewan, there are two nomination streams of the provinces that do not require job offers.

Saskatchewan Express Entry-linked stream is the first which requires your active profile in the federal Express Entry system to apply.

Saskatchewan Occupation In-Demand stream is the second designed to invite skilled workers to meet the needs of the labor market.

Nova Scotia Labour Market Priorities

Nova Scotia caters to various candidate profiles as it has a wide range of immigration gateways.

To qualify for a nomination under this stream, you will need to have:

  • A valid profile number of the Express Entry
  • Stated in your Express Entry profile that you are looking to migrate to Nova Scotia
  • Received a Letter of Interest from Nova Scotia
  • When you receive the Nova Scotia Letter of Interest, the required criteria are in effect
  • Proof of immigration status in the country you currently live

Bottom line

All the programs that need not have a job requirement allow you to own a permanent residency status even before you start your job search, which could help make it easier for the employers of Canada to hire you.
