UK’s Tech Nation visa's demand soars as year-end closes in

There has been a jump in demand for the UK’s Tech Nation visa (Global Talent visa) as EU citizens have been given access to the visa. The visa will allow tech-based workers to arrive and work in UK and tech entrepreneurs and innovators to set up their enterprises.

The number of applications for this visa received in the last 2 years is 2,000. In 2020, the demand for the visa rose by 48%. It is a progression from 2019’s count of 45%. The Tech Nation visa will open the path for more people applying for the visa. As the completion of the Brexit process is nearing, the demand for the Tech Nation visa is expected to increase even more. It’s the UK work visa for EU nationals.

The tech scene in the UK

Tech Nation has data that over half of the successful applicants in 2020 are now employed with the UK’s leading technology firms. Over a quarter of the applicants are founders with companies established in the UK.

With 59% of Tech Nation visa applicants having their base there, London dominates the booming tech sector of the UK. Most of the applications for the Tech Nation visa comes from the US, Nigeria, and India.
