A decision much welcomed by international medical professionals has been made by Australia recently. The federal government of Australia has decided to include pharmacists in the PMSOL. This will help those in the pharmacy field to obtain Australia PR faster.
This decision will create a pathway that’s faster and sure to deliver results for applicants. It will also help Australia to manage the slow progression of the country’s COVID-19 vaccination campaign.
The new decision will also be a way to address the growing need to have skilled migrants in Australia who could obtain Australia PR and contribute to the economic recovery after the pandemic ends.
What is PMSOL?
The PMSOL is a list of skilled occupations that the Australian government has made an assessment of as jobs that require critical skills needed to support the economic recovery of Australia after COVID-19.
The processing of visas of applicants having a job included in the PMSOL is done faster and on priority.
How is this good news?
Students who are studying Pharmacy in an Australian university or a pharmacist who wants to work in Australia can now apply for Australia PR.
The following job categories have been added to PMSOL as was announced by Alex Hawke, the Minister of Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services, and Multi-cultural Affairs:
- Retail Pharmacist
- Hospital Pharmacist
- Industrial Pharmacist
In congruence with the numerous community pharmacies in Australia that have been invited to take part in the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, this offer will be greatly beneficial in the COVID-19 vaccination drive.
Adding the above occupations sets the number of occupations included in PMSOL at 44 in total. The list of occupations requiring skilled migration will continue to be active as it is. Skilled migrants who arrive in Australia will need to make quarantine arrangements by meeting the costs on their own.
The decision of Australia to include Pharmacy jobs in PMSOL comes at a time when Australia is in great need of pharmacists. Their contribution to support the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine and the migration program is essential and valuable.
The benefits of this latest move by the Australian government will come to be seen in time. Pharmacists are now allowed to file their applications for Australia PR onshore and offshore.
