Highlights: Canada holds first-ever Express Entry Draw for Education Professionals

• IRCC issued 1,000 invitations to eligible candidates via the latest Express Entry on May 1, 2025.
• To be considered for the latest Express Entry Draw, a minimum CRS score of 478 is necessary
• The Latest Express Entry Draw will consider profiles created before 10:35 a.m. on August 10, 2024.
• The recent Express Entry Draw was the first-ever category-based draw for the Education sector.

First-ever Express Entry Draw for Education Professionals

This latest Express Entry Draw marks the first candidate selection under the New IRCC Education category. The Education category was first declared in February 2025 as the newest category added to the immigration department's economic priorities. Currently, in 2025, Express Entry has added six new categories:
 

• Healthcare and social services occupations
• Education occupations
• Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) occupations
• Trade occupations
• Agriculture and Agri-food occupations
• Strong French-language proficiency
   

These new priority sectors and occupation lists were launched to target two pathway types: RCIP and FCIP. To apply for this priority sector, eligible candidates must have a job offer from a designated employer to qualify for the pathway. Till now, IRCC has issued 32,929 ITAs to eligible candidates through the Express Entry system.
