Highlights: Finland issued 12,000+ work permit applications in 2024

• The first Finland work-based residency permit was issued to more than 12,000 foreign nationals within the nine months of 2024.

Finland First Work-based Residency Permit in 2024

According to the Finland’s government, the number of foreign nationals who were issued with work-based residence permits is high compared to pandemic times. Finland issued 12,498 first work-based residency permits between January and September 2024.

Finland witnessed an increase in Finland work permit

From January to September 2024, only 978 foreign specialists applied for Finland Residence permits. The number of applications increased for International students between January and September 2024.As per the data, 11,749 International students applied for a Finnish Residence permit in 2024. The number of work permits increased by 9% from the previous year.

The most significant number of students to apply for residency permit was from:

• Bangladesh
• Nepal
• India

Finland has introduced better measures for International students where the applications are processed faster, within an average of nine days.
