Highlights: The Express Entry Category-Based Draw with the most number of job vacancies

  • The category-based Express Entry draws will start this summer in Canada.
  • Under these draws, IRCC will invite only those candidates who have high French language proficiency, or

  • In Q4 2022, STEM had 56,915 job vacancies, and Healthcare had 143,695 job vacancies.

Category based Express Entry Draws

The category-based Express Entry draws will start this summer, and Immigration Minister Sean Fraser announced the target categories on May 31. These draws take place along with the general and program-specific draws.

Under the category-based draws, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will invite only those candidates who have high French language proficiency or who have a work experience in any of the following sectors:

  • STEM professions
  • Healthcare
  • Agriculture and agri-food
  • Transport
  • Trades

STEM professions

STEM Professions include the professions of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. These professions generally fall under the technical, scientific, and professional service categories. The total job vacancies in this sector were 56,915 in the fourth quarter of 2022. People working in this sector were getting an average hourly wage of $35.80 during the same period.
