In the latest update on US immigration, USCIS has given the dates to begin the H-1B application process by sponsoring employees. The registration process for the fiscal year 2022 will start on March 9, 2021.  It will go on till March 25, 2021.

The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that is issued to foreigners who work in USA being employed by US companies. The occupations they are selected into need skillsets apt for specialty jobs. These jobs require technical and theoretical expertise.

H-1B is a major visa category that’s used by tech companies in the US to hire tens of thousands of foreign workers. The Biden administration had promised to continue with the traditional lottery system to issue H-1B visas until December 31, 2021. This year would be the second one in which the e-registration process will be done.

Prospective representatives and petitioners can fill out information for the petitioner and representatives during the registration period. The USCIS has also stated that in case it gets a sufficient number of registrations, it will exercise random selection and send notifications of the same by March 31, 2021.

The maximum number of H-1B visas USCIS can issue in a year is 65,000. An additional 20,000 H-1B visas will be sent to international students who have completed higher studies in STEM subjects from a US university.

The Biden administration has also scrapped the Trump administration’s rule canceling authorization to work for H4 visa holders. These would be spouses of H-1B visa holders.
