The updates from the Canada immigration scene brings the news that it has now become mandatory for all travelers to Canada to provide the following details while entering Canada.

  • Contact information
  • Quarantine information

One of the initiatives that Canada has introduced to ensure that Canadians and travelers arriving on a Canada visitor visa or otherways are safe from COVID-19 is the ArriveCAN app.

ArriveCAN is an online app that is a platform to submit mandatory travel information on and after the traveler’s entry into Canada.

The app helps you to forgo the need to fill a paper formin order to furnish the essential details. As of November 21, 2020, if you are flying and Canada is your final destination, you must submit the following via ArriveCAN:

  • Travel and contact details
  • Quarantine plan
  • Self-assessment of COVID-19 symptoms

The app must be used before boarding the flight to Canada. The window to submit information via the app opens 90 days before the flight. If the traveler submits his/her information by signing in to the ArriveCAN online, the window opens 14 days before the flight.

After the information is submitted via ArriveCAN, the traveler will get a receipt displayed. That receipt will have to be shown to the officer for Canadian border services as a screenshot from the app or as a printout.

The mandatory submission of information via ArriveCAN is applicable to travelers arriving by land or seatoo. This will accelerate the processing at the border by limiting points of contact.

After entering Canada, travelers must submit a report daily except if they have entered with exemptions. The reports must be to:

  • Confirm that you have reached the address given via the app for quarantine or self-isolation, within 48 hours of the traveler’s entry into Canada.
  • Complete COVID-19 self-assessment for symptoms until the candidate’s quarantine period is not completed or until he/she reports symptoms.
