Nova Scotia conducted its business immigration draw for the first time in 11 months. The draw was conducted on November 1, 2022, through the NS-PNP or Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program.

It issued 12 invitations under 2 streams. They are:

  • Entrepreneur Stream
  • International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream

What is the Nova Scotia Entrepreneur Stream?

The Nova Scotia Entrepreneur stream is aimed at individuals with business ownership or who have significant experience in management. They should be living in Nova Scotia, and:

  • Start a new business
  • Buy an already set-up business

They should proactively participate in the regular management of the business.

Through the Entrepreneur stream, individuals are initially issued a temporary work permit and later they can apply for Canada PR or permanent residency after they have run the business for 1 year. The stream issues an EOI or Expression of Interest, where the nominated candidates are sent an EOI to apply for permanent residency in Canada.

Eligibility Criteria for Nova Scotia Entrepreneur Stream

The eligibility criteria for applying under the Nova Scotia Entrepreneur Stream are given below:

  • Having an EOI
  • Being issued an Invitation to Apply
  • Interview in-person and agreement on business performance
  • Business establishment and work permit for Nova Scotia
  • Request for Nomination
  • Apply for Canada PR

Requirements for the Entrepreneur Stream of Nova Scotia

The requirements for a candidate to apply under the Entrepreneur Stream of Nova Scotia are given below:

  • The candidate should be 21 years or above
  • Intention to settle permanently in Nova Scotia while operating a business in Nova Scotia business
  • A net worth of at least 600,000 CAD
  • A minimum investment of 150,000 CAD for a business in Nova Scotia
  • At least 3 years of experience in owning and managing a business with a 33% ownership in the business or 5 years and above experience in a senior managerial position.
  • Score 5 and above for language proficiency on the CLB or Canadian Language Benchmark

International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream in Nova Scotia

The International Graduate Entrepreneur stream is aimed at candidates who have graduated recently from higher-learning institutions in Nova Scotia. They should have established or buy a business in Nova Scotia and have run it for 1 year under the PGWP or Post-Graduation Work Permit.

Candidates are nominated for Canada PR if they want to settle in Nova Scotia.

Requirements for International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream

The requirements for the candidate applying under the International Graduate Entrepreneur Stream are given below:

  • Intention to settle permanently in Nova Scotia and manage a business in Nova Scotia.
  • At least 1 year of work experience in establishing and managing work in Nova Scotia business
  • The applicant should have 100% of ownership
  • Have graduated from a 2 years study program in-person education at a higher learning institute in Nova Scotia
  • Valid PGWP
  • A score of 7 on CLB for language proficiency
