An archipelago of more than 17,000 islands, Indonesia attracts tourists to its shores every year. It offers visas on arrival for 68 countries. The citizens of these countries can stay in this Southeast Asia country for up to a month and are eligible to prolong their visas.

Indonesian Visit Visa

If you want to travel to Indonesia as a tourist, you need to apply for a visit visa with a validity of 90 days. But you can stay in the Republic of Indonesia for up to 60 days. You can extend it if you have completed specific immigration formalities.

Individuals can travel to the county only as long as the visa is valid. After it is verified, the visa is issued. If you want to apply for a visit visa, you need to register with the Immigration Department of Indonesia by providing important information and paying the visa fees.

Indonesia Visit Visa Eligibility Criteria for Applicants

• A passport with a validity of at least six months
• A return ticket

This visa allows you to do the following:

• To visit family and friends
• Social and cultural programs
• Educational stay (to attend a seminar/conference)
• On a government visit
• Attend meetings of organizations that are headquartered in Indonesia

Documents Required for Indonesia Visit Visa

• A passport
• Passport-sized photograph
• Previous passports and visas, if required
• A copy of your filled-out visa application form with your signature
• Details of your travel schedule
• Proof of having arranged accommodation and booked flight tickets
• A cover letter detailing the reason for your visit
• Evidence that you have sufficient financial resources to sustain yourself
• A letter from a relative, friend, or institution that is sponsoring you. Included in this letter should be the sponsor’s local ID

Entry Requirements for Indonesia

• SATUSEHAT Health Pass
  All international travellers must complete the SATUSEHAT digital health declaration before arrival. This includes health status, symptoms, and recent travel history. A QR code is generated and must be presented upon entry.

• Customs Declaration (e-CD)
  All passengers are required to submit an electronic customs declaration form before arrival. A QR code will be generated, which is scanned at customs checkpoints.

• “All Indonesia” Declaration Card
  Indonesia has introduced a unified digital card combining health, customs, and immigration details. It should be completed online within 72 hours before travel. Travellers receive a QR code to present on arrival. This requirement is already in effect at major entry points and will be mandatory nationwide by late 2025.

• Bali Tourist Levy
  Visitors entering Bali must pay a tourist levy of IDR 150,000 per person. The fee can be paid online in advance or at designated counters on arrival. The levy supports cultural and environmental preservation initiatives.

Visit Visa (B-211) Extension

• Validity: Initially valid for 60 days.

• Extension: It can be extended twice, each time for up to 60 days, giving a maximum stay of 180 days.

• Cost: Each extension costs approximately IDR 2,700,000.

• Completed extension application form

• Passport-sized recent photograph

• Proof of onward or return travel

• Proof of sufficient funds for stay

• Copy of current visa

• Proof of local accommodation/address

• Immigration fee payment receipt

Overstay Penalties in Indonesia

Overstay of 60 days or less
A fine of IDR 1,000,000 per day applies. This is treated as an administrative violation and must be settled at immigration offices or exit points before departure.

Overstay of more than 60 days
Leads to severe consequences, including:

• Deportation and blacklisting (entry bans)
• Possible detention and legal action
• Potential imprisonment in serious cases

VOA / e-VOA Guidance

Other Entry Requirements	From 1 September 2025, all travellers must complete the new “All Indonesia” digital declaration card before arrival.
Tourist Levy (Bali)	A tourist levy of IDR 150,000 (around AUD 14) applies when entering Bali, payable online or on arrival.
Purpose Restrictions	VOA/e-VOA is valid for tourism, social visits, transit, conferences, or business meetings. Work, study, or long-term stays require a different visa.

Policy Updates: Visa-Free Resumptions 

• August 29, 2024 – Visa-free entry resumed for Colombia, Hong Kong, and Suriname.
• July 3, 2025 – Visa-free entry expanded to include Brazil and Turkey.
• ASEAN member states – Continue to enjoy visa-free entry under regional agreements.
• Stay duration – Visa-free entry permits a single-entry stay of up to 30 days, non-extendable and non-convertible.
• Selection criteria – Countries are chosen based on reciprocity, tourism potential, economic benefits, and national security considerations.
