Before you migrate to Dubai you must first get a job to relocate there. In order to get a work permit to work in the UAE you must first get a job. Your employer sponsors your work permit. This work permit is valid for two months and allows you to enter the country. After you get a work permit, you can apply for a residence permit to stay in Dubai.
Documents required for UAE work permit
- Your original passport and its copy
- Your passport-size picture, in line with UAE requirements
- Authorization document of your qualifications by the UAE Embassy or consulate in your country as well as from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of your country.
- Medical certificate, issued by a government-approved health center in the UAE.
- Commercial license or the company card of the company that is hiring you
Once you submit your application, the government takes about 5 working days to grant the work permit.
The work permit is issued with the Labor Card and the Residence Visa. The Residence Visa allows you to stay and work lawfully in the UAE. UAE Residence Visas are issued for 1, 2, or 3 years, depending on the purpose of travel and the discretion of the UAE agencies. The Residence Visa allows you to bring your family members to the UAE.

Permanent residency in Dubai
Expats looking to relocate to Dubai need to know that permanent residency and UAE citizenship are not available to them. To stay in the country indefinitely, you’ll need to continuously renewing your 2–3-year temporary resident permit and completing the requirements.

The UAE golden visa, which is a long-term visa, was launched in 2019 as a long-term residency program.
The purpose of the Dubai golden visa was to promote the UAE as a business investment destination and to boost regional economic development. The visa was created to commemorate long-term residents and their contributions to the growth of their own country.
The golden visa is a way of recognizing and thanking them for their contributions by providing them with a long-term visa which is valid for ten years and can be renewed. Five categories of non-residents can apply for the UAE golden visa, these include entrepreneurs, chief executives, investors, meritorious students and scientists.
