Sweden takes back advice against visit to UK

Sweden’s new advice allows UK trips for Swedes

Sweden lifts advice against UK

From September 14, 2020, citizens of Sweden are allowed to travel to the UK for non-essential purposes. So Swedish citizens can now use the UK tourist visa to have a nice time in Britain. This marked the end of Sweden’s advice against this permission that was in effect earlier.

The improved epidemiological situation in the UK has led Sweden to take such a decision. Swedes with UK travel visa right now have a great opportunity at hand, even a privileged one. This is because Swedish citizens will not have to go through mandatory quarantine when they arrive in the UK.

The authorities in Sweden have urged its Swedish citizens to travel with thorough preparations to keep away from infections. They are also urged to follow the entry rules of the destination country and instructions given by the local authorities there.

Sweden has so far permitted non-essential travel to the following countries:

  • Bulgaria
  • Austria
  • Croatia
  • Andorra
  • Cyprus
  • Switzerland
  • Belgium
  • Iceland
  • Denmark
  • The UK
  • France
  • Spain
  • Poland
  • Italy
  • Greece
  • The Netherlands
  • Monaco
  • The Vatican
  • Norway
  • Hungary
  • Germany
  • Portugal
  • The Czech Republic
  • Romania
  • Luxembourg
  • San Marino
  • Liechtenstein

Even at this point, Sweden has extended its recommendation to avoid non-essential travel until September 23, 2020. The countries advised against include those in the EU, EEA, and Schengen zone. In the Schengen zone, the exceptions are:

  • Latvia
  • Estonia
  • Slovenia
  • Ireland
  • Slovakia
  • Finland
  • Lithuania
  • Malta

Sweden has recommended not to travel to countries outside the EU that it had kept applied till November 15, 2020. The advice against Cyprus to avoid non-essential travel there has been lifted recently.
