Malcolm Turnbull, Australian Prime Minister, said on 13 June that migrants must adopt fully ‘Australian values’ if they wished to become citizens of that country. Indo-Asia News Service cited Xinhua quoting Turnbull as pressing the opposition to give their go-ahead to a legislation, which would lead to creation of a revised test for citizenship. The changes proposed in April mandate migrants to necessarily pass a tougher English test and be prepared to answer questions on Aussie values, which relate to subjects such as sexism and gender equality. Turnbull said that they would introduce legislation to change their visa and citizenship requirements so that the new migrants of their society would accept their values and contribute positively to the society of Australia. He also announced that the government would be pressing on for changes to metadata laws, allowing Australia's security agencies to obtain data of those who are viewed as proper terror threats. Turnbull told the parliament that with a tweet or a YouTube video, one can reach out to millions within no time.
