The report of the Government of Australia has revealed that Immigrants do not steal Australian jobs and debunked this myth. It elaborates that the current labor market has not been harmed by migration. The report has been compiled jointly by the 2 departments – Treasury and Home Affairs.

The Government report also contradicts the claims that immigrants are a burden on the welfare system. It has revealed that on the other hand, immigrants pay more in the form of taxes than claiming in social services.

Immigrants diminish the effect of the aging population in Australia adds the report as quoted by the ABC NET AU. They enhance productivity and participation in the Australian jobs. Overseas migrants also assist businesses with skills that are tough to access within the short time period, explains the report.

Skilled immigrants that obtained the Australia visas in 2014-15 are projected to make a contribution of almost 7 billion $ in a net lifetime. On the other hand, those with 457 visas are likely to contribute around 4 billion$. Only those immigrants who obtain humanitarian or refuge visas are projected to incur costs to the budget in their lifetime.

The report argues in favor of bigger Australia and also cautions the government to enhance expenditure on maintenance of current infrastructure. This is needed to be on par with the growth rates.

The pressures of expansion and growth must be catered through fresh infrastructure. The use of existing infrastructure must also be enhanced, adds the report.
