Immi Agents caution over Australia visa category revamp

Immigration agents have cautioned against the revamping of Australia visa category and reducing the numbers of the visa types. They have said that this will severely influence the rate of success of visa applications.

One of the Immigration Agents in Canberra said that it is tough to manage all the applications that are catered to by the 99 Australia visa categories after narrowing them to 10 types of visas. The immigration agent further said that applicants will most likely seek to file applications on their own with the reduced types of visa categories. This will definitely result in the increase in the rate of rejections of visa applications.

The immigration law is not simple, elaborated the Immigration experts, as quoted by the SBS. There will be definitely a hike in the numbers of appeals and refusals in a scenario wherein businesses and individuals furnish their own applications for visas.

University of Sydney Political Science and Public Policy Senior Lecturer Anna Boucher said that this is a huge transformation. It will lead to drastic alterations in the categories of Australia visas. This will also result in a fundamental transformation where in Australia becomes a nation of temporary immigrants rather than Permanent Residents/ PR holders, added Ms. Boucher.

Eliminating Australia PR pathways may also create a class of lower immigrants in Australia, added the Senior Lecturer.
