France is officially the first country to commence testing Digital Green Certificates. All member countries of the EU had earlier agreed on implementing the Digital Green certificates at the EU level.

The TousAntiCovid app, which was launched on October 22, 2020, will be used to carry out the COVID testing. The app was launched as part of France’s program for contact tracing. Presently, the app has been upgraded to store information of negative COVID-19 test results on the mobile phones of travelers arriving in France on visitor visa or migration.

The app, currently clocking 15 million downloads, will be operated on trial on flights to Corsica as well as French overseas departments. This will start on April 29, 2021.

Though the certificate will be used for travel at first, in time it will be used for public events like trade fairs, festivals, and concerts.

As of now, those who have been tested for the COVID-19 virus with RT-PCR or antigen test will get an email or SMS. This will help them to download a certificate in PDF format by connecting to the SI-DEP. A QR code will be present on the certificate.

The vaccination can be downloaded through the Ameli Health Insurance portal from April 29, 2021. The police, DGS, airlines, and customs will be equipped with an app to read the DataMatrix. This will be called TousAntiCovid–Check.
