The Government of Quebec will automatically extend CAQs due any day between 30th April 2020 and 31st December 2020.

The MIFI (Ministry of Immigration, Francization, and Integration) came out with the decision on 30th April 2020. It was a response to the concerns of many of its partners in the education sector in view of the current pandemic surge.

With a fee waived automatic renewal of CAQs, renew of Canada study visa with the federal government will get easier for the foreign students. They won’t have to bother with the renewal of CAQ first.

Students can now submit their application to the federal government at the earliest to extend their study permit. As per the study in Canada requirements, this will be necessary to stay on and complete studies. With the renewal, they can complete the remaining part of their courses when colleges resume after the COVID restrictions end.

The new facility provided isn't applicable to students who wish to get a CAQ for the fall semester. It's also not for students who have a CAQ with expiry after 31st December 2020.
