The EU Settlement Scheme is open for EU people to apply for

The UK has urged the EU nationals in the country to apply for the EU Settlement Scheme. The Scheme gives all citizens of the EU, EEA, and Switzerland the chance to continue staying in the UK even while the country is not part of the EU now.

The last date to file an application for the EU Settlement Scheme is June 30, 2021. About 4.9 million people have applied under the Scheme till December 31, 2020. Most of the applications came from England (4.4 million). The number of applications that came from other areas of the UK is as follows:

• Scotland - 243,600
• Wales - 80,700
• Northern Ireland - 78,500

It was on March 30, 2019, that the EU Settlement Scheme was launched by the UK authorities. In October 2019, the highest number of applications were processed for this scheme: over 400,000. The Scheme is a boon for those who wish to stay in the UK after their UK migration.
