More details of TSS Visa revealed by DHA

The Department of Home Affairs in Australia has revealed further details of the new TSS Visa or Subclass 482 Temporary Skill Shortage visa. It has been clarified by the DHA that the applications that were filed before the date for execution of standard business sponsorships will be processed as per current rules. These include 457 visas and 457 nomination visa.

The nomination applications for 457 visas that have been filed without the appropriate visa application being submitted will be canceled and the nominee fee will be reimbursed. The sponsorship renewal will have 5 years auto-approval. This is after completing a digital streamlined renewal form. It excludes instances wherein sponsor declares that the eligibility criterions are no longer met by them and reliability issues.

Australia TSS visa applications mandate the applicant to possess minimum 2 years of work experience in the nominated occupation out of the last 5 years, as quoted by the Australian.

The employer will have to indicate the duration of employment while completing the nomination form. The options are 1, 2, 3 or 4 years based on the job qualifying for short or long-term category. As of now, 457 visas are normally offered for 4 years.

Short-term, successive, and multiple TSS visas holders could have issues to fulfill the authentic provisional entrant or GTE. A new condition termed 8607 has been introduced.
