More positive news from the European Union comes from the Czech Republic. The Czech diplomatic offices have resumed migration services, accepting applications for temporary stay permits and visas. The Czech Foreign Ministry has said that these may be granted for work and reunion of family members at Czech embassies and consulates around the globe.

The applications can be made at the Czech diplomatic offices in countries including:

  • The USA
  • Australia
  • Vietnam
  • China
  • Serbia

The countries not eligible for accepting the applications are those where COVID-19 preventive measures have made people unable to apply at Czech diplomatic offices. These countries include:

  • Russia
  • Romania

The Czech Republic, at the onset of the COVID-19, had announced that it will allow permission to internationals in the country stay back till July 17, 2020. This was on the condition that their residence permit or visas should have expired due to the COVID-19 situation. This meant that foreign nationals who are legally in the country when it declared a state of emergency on March 12 can stay back till July 17, 2020. By July 17, the state of emergency will be lifted.

Tomáš Petříček, Czech Republic’s Foreign Minister, has also announced that the country may reopen its borders with the EU countries close to it in July 2020. Talks are on with Austria and Slovenia, which may bring this plan into action soon.
