Canada grants limitless working hours for international students

To address the persisting shortage in the workforce in various departments, the Canadian government lifted the limit on the number of hours worked for foreign students, now they can work for unlimited hours off-campus while studying.

From November 15, the post-secondary international students will be able to work for as many hours as they want by not restricting them to 20 hours per week. Though this is a temporary measure, the validity is till December 31, 2023.

This new measure is also applicable to the Study permit applicants that are already submitted after approval. This new measure will help the students to gain Canadian work experience and can become an asset to the Canadian workforce shortage.

With the fast-growing economy, Canada looks at every option to hire new workers who have gained skills and are ready to address the current workforce shortage. Currently, Canada sees immigration as one of the crucial steps to address the current workforce shortage.

Canada announces new immigration benefits for international students, job seekers

Sean Fraser, Canada Immigration Minister says....

Permitting foreign students to work for more hours during their studies can help decrease the needs of many sectors across the country. Students get more opportunities and can contribute to short-term recovery and gain long-term profits.

This step also foresees the benefit for international students who will also get an opportunity, if they plan to apply for permanent residence in the country. The work experience they get with this unlimited work will be an easy step to fetch Canada PR.

Currently, 500,000 foreign students are already present in Canada. This measure will address the struggling workforce market immediately.
