Australia’s new English language test for citizenship is unsuitable says Global language expert

The proposed stringent English language test for applicants of Australian citizenship has been termed to be unsuitable by a leading global expert on language tests. International Language Testing Association President and a global leading expert at Melbourne University Catherine Elder has rejected the claims of Peter Dutton the Immigration Minster that the Labor party was incorrectly inflating the proposed test of English language for applicants of Australian citizenship. Ms. Elder also added that it was incorrect to presume that the two tests in IELTS had varying degrees of difficulty. Though the IELTS –General test is an alternative to IELTS –Academic test, the scale for both is the same added the international language testing expert.
