Australia Skill Select invitation rounds update for August

The first three Australia Skill Select invitation rounds have been quite diverse for the program year 2017-18 when compared with the previous year. When analyzed with the program year 2016-17, 2017-18 program year has offered lesser invitations so far for the Subclass 189 Skilled Independent visa. Just 1000 invitations have been issued so far in this visa category in one round each held in July and August 2017 bringing the total to 3000 for the current program year. In 2016-17 after the first three rounds a total of 4, 450 invitations were offered which was 50% more than the current year. In the first three rounds, lower than a usual number of Skill Select invitations have been offered so far. This along with a huge number of pending EOIs for pro rata jobs will account for the higher points required to receive the invitation for Subclass 189 Skilled Independent visa. In the previous year, a large number of Subclass 189 Skilled Independent visa invitations were offered at the beginning of the program year. It was Round 1 – 2, 202 and Round 3 – 1, 400 invitations. This helped to clear the pending EOIs in a faster way, as quoted by the ACACIA AU. In the current program year increased numbers of Subclass 489 Skilled Regional Provisional Family Sponsored invitations have been offered so far. It is 343 invitations while compared with the 300 in the last year. The waiting times have decreased and 60 points are adequate to receive an invitation under this visa category. The number of places offered for non-pro rata jobs is much lesser while compared with the previous year. As of now, only 475 invitations have been offered so far in jobs outside the list of pro rata.
