Australia offers scholarships to study in regional areas

Australia has started accepting applications for the Destination Australia scholarship program. This scholarship program will help international students study in regional areas of Australia. 

Australia is offering 40 scholarships worth AUD 15,000 per annum for four years. The scholarships would support education and living expenses for international students studying a variety of courses. The courses include both Bachelors and Masters courses. 

Prof Melissa Brown, Exec. Dean of Science of the University of Queensland, says that the new scholarship program will make it easier for foreign students to experience regional Australia. She said that it is an incredible experience to study in Australia. The generous scholarships will help foreign students see what life in regional Australia is like. 

The University of Queensland’s Gatton campus houses some of the best teaching, research and learning facilities. The Gatton campus is just about an hour’s drive away from Brisbane and is a leading hub for agriculture and veterinary science. The campus also has a working farm with over a thousand hectares of active livestock grazing. The campus also has greenhouses and post-harvest facilities. 

The Gatton campus of the University of Queensland is offering 40 scholarships under the Destination Australia scholarship program. The scholarships are available for 13 programs including: 

  • Bachelor of Science (Gatton) 
  • Bachelor of Agricultural Science 
  • Bachelor of Wildlife Science 
  • Bachelor of Equine Science 
  • Bachelor of Veterinary Sciences (Honours) 
  • Bachelor of Veterinary Technology 
  • Master of Veterinary Science 
  • Master of Animal Science (32 Units) 
  • Master of Animal Science (24 Units) 
  • Master of Agricultural Science (32 Units) 
  • Master of Agricultural Science (24 Units) 
  • Master of Agribusiness (32 Units) 
  • Master of Agribusiness (24 Units) 

Prof Brown said that UQ’s School of Agriculture and Food Sciences had been ranked first in Australia and fifth in the world. UQ’s School of Veterinary Science is ranked among the top 40 in the world. 

Applications for the Destination Australia scholarship program closes on 17th January 2020. Details about the scholarship program are available on the Destination Australia Scholarship website.
