An Indian tourist was questioned by ABF (Australia Border Force) on his arrival from Malaysia. This incident happened at Perth International Airport last Thursday.

The 45-year old Indian man was denied permission to enter Australia after an abhorrent video was found on his phone. The video depicted child exploitation which is banned under Australian Laws. The ABF seized his phone and also cancelled his Visa as his act violated custom regulations.

Rod O’Donnell, Regional commander of ABF in WA, said that his officers were committed to preventing banned material from entering Australia. He also issued a statement saying any material depicting child exploitation is banned in Australia.

The ABF detained the Indian tourist and later transferred him to the Immigration Detention Centre in Perth. He was deported from the country on Sunday morning, as quoted by SBS News.

Commander O’Donnell also said carrying abhorrent material into Australia carries severe consequences. Such an act may lead to cancellation of your Visa. Heavy penalties will also be imposed on you if caught.

ABF has reported an increasing number of defaulters in recent times.

In January this year, an Indian tourist was caught carrying objectionable child exploitation material on both his mobile phones. He had to face court charges of carrying prohibited material in Perth. He was also jailed for 2 months for carrying the banned material. After completing his jail term, he got deported from Australia under Australian law.

What is prohibited under Australian law?

Under Australian Law, the below material is prohibited:

  • Child pornography.
  • Explicit sexual violence.
  • Bestiality.
  • Cruelty.
  • Degradation.
  • Non-consensual sex.
