Another Alberta draw happened recently as part of the Canada immigration process. Alberta invited Express Entry candidates through it. The candidates were eligible to apply for a provincial nomination. That will lead them to permanent residence in Canada.

In the draw, 136 candidates were invited to apply via the Alberta Express Entry Stream.

The invited candidates already had their profiles in the federal Express Entry pool. Canada uses this pool to find eligible candidates. The candidates required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 300 points.

When invited via the Alberta Express Entry Stream, the candidates do not need a job offer to get invited. But it’s necessary for them to have their profiles in the Express Entry system.

Candidates invited in the March 18 Alberta draw are now allowed to submit an application for a provincial nomination from the AINP. If they make it to receiving the nomination, they will be automatically granted 600 points. This will be added to their overall CRS score. This can be used in a forthcoming federal Express Entry draw. This effectively fetches them a guarantee that they will get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residency.

Express Entry manages applications for immigration programs in 3 economic classes:

· Federal Skilled Trades Program

· Federal Skilled Worker Program

· Canadian Experience Class

The eligible candidates for Express Entry are ranked on factors like education, work experience, age, and official language skill. Considering these aspects, they are given a CRS score.

The candidates who score highest are invited. Then they can apply for permanent residence. They will apply through Express Entry draws at the federal level.

To be eligible for an invitation, the candidate must be working in a job that contributes to the economic development of Alberta. It should also take care of Alberta’s diversification priorities. It must be noted that the AINP doesn’t provide a list of eligible occupations.

It's not essential to have a job offer to be fit for this stream. But the AINP may give priority to candidates who meet any of the following 3 criteria:

· A parent, sibling, or child already living in the province

· A job offer and/or work experience in Alberta

· A Canadian post-secondary institution degree along with a valid job offer

So far in 2020, Alberta has issued 887 invitations to Express Entry candidates. In 2019, Alberta had issued a total of 11,137 invitations. This was via the Alberta Express Entry stream.
