Germany immigration for non-EU nationals

For non-EU nationals who have no job offer from Germany, immigration is possible by getting a Germany Jobseeker visa.

Germany Jobseeker Visa

It’s a long-term residency permit issued by Germany. With this visa, you can stay and seek a job in Germany for up to 6 months. Once you find a job in Germany, you can change the visa into a working residence permit in Germany.

Eligibility for Germany Jobseeker Visa

If you want to apply for a Germany Jobseeker visa, you have to meet the following criteria:

  • You must have a Bachelor’s degree or a higher degree in STEM subjects from a university recognized in Germany.
  • You must have at least 5 years of experience in your field of study.
  • You must have enough funds in hand to meet the expenses of living in Germany during the term of the jobseeker visa. You must not have to depend on the German government or any other entity for financial support.
  • You must take a medical insurance policy.

If you satisfy these conditions for eligibility, you must then proceed to collect all required documents to place an application for a Germany Jobseeker visa.

The following are the documents required:

  • A passport deemed valid
  • A copy of the data page of your passport
  • Your detailed CV
  • 3 passport-size photos on the basis of biometric specifications
  • A covering letter detailing the intention of your visit, your plans to find a job, and your alternative career plans in case you are unable to find a job
  • Diploma/degree and certificates of work experience previously acquired
  • Proof of financial means to meet the costs of staying in Germany during the valid period of the visa, which could be any of the following documents:
    • Bank account statement
    • Verpflichtungserklärung (formal obligation letter) by a sponsor living in Germany
    • Blocked bank account
  • Proof of personal status in your home country (E.g., certificate of birth, marriage certificate, etc. (translated in English))
  • Proof of accommodation in Germany
  • Proof of your health insurance

After presenting these documents, your application form and documents will be scrutinized and left to the decision of the consular officer.

In the time of making a decision to approve your application, you may be required to submit additional documents as the German consulate/embassy decides.
