The 6 requirements of new Australia Skill Transfer Visa

The Government of Australia has announced the new Australia Skill Transfer Visa that is aimed at attracting highly skilled immigrants to the nation. This visa will be launched on a pilot basis from July 1, 2018. It is aimed at transfer of skills to local workers assisting in the growth of businesses in Australia.

The new Australia Skill Transfer Visa is divided into two categories – Startup businesses and Established businesses. The startup businesses that intend to apply must be functional within a STEM associated sector. It must also obtain endorsement from an Authority for Startup Businesses, as quoted by the Businesstech CO ZA.

The companies applying under the stream of established businesses must have had yearly turnover of minimum 4 million AUD in last 2 years or must be listed publicly.

There are six chief qualifying criterions for the new Australia Skill Transfer Visa:

• Satisfy the security, character and health requirements

• Not have any family relations with the shareholders/directors of the business

• Possess qualifications on par with the highly skilled job role

• Posses minimum 3 years of work experience that is appropriate to the role

• Possess the ability to transfer the skills

• Salary requirement

i. The advertised position under the stream for Established business must have a yearly salary of at least 180, 000 AUD

ii. For the stream Startup business, the advertised position must have a yearly salary of at least 53, 900 yearly
