Highlights: $3 Million Investment by Nova Scotia for supporting Immigrants

  • Nova Scotia is investing $3 million in supporting immigrants to improve the facility for newcomers.
  • The investment would help to boost English language training and support healthcare workers and the francophone population.
  • Atlantic Canadian provinces saw an increase in healthcare workers by 88.9 per cent and construction professionals by 85.8 per cent.
  • Nova Scotia welcomed 763 healthcare and 244 construction workers in 2023.

Details of recruitment in Nova Scotia:

Last year, Nova Scotia recruited construction workers from abroad as it launched Critical Construction Worker Pilot with 21 occupations in the construction sector.

The National Occupation Classification (NOC) 2021 system codes for the occupation lists are:

The Nova Scotia pathways have some criteria to fulfil, such as:

 

  • Get a permanent job from Nova Scotia-eligible occupations
  • One year of work experience
  • Have proof of completing a construction-specific industry training program
  • Aged between 21 to 55 years old
  • Language ability equal to level 4
  • Sufficient funds to settle in Nova Scotia

 

Last year, Nova Scotia hit a population of 1,066,416 on Oct. 1. 11,800 new residents were greeted through immigration programs and net migration in Canada.
