2 major changes announced regarding SAT test in the USA

College Board is scrapping SAT’s optional essay and subject tests

The College Board of USA has announced that it will discontinue 2 assessments in SAT test namely:

  • The optional section of essay-writing
  • The supplementary exams in SAT subject tests

The reason cited for this new change was the COVID-19 pandemic. Many students willing to study in USA were struggling to find testing centers for SAT and to attend the exam at the right time and place.

The new measure was implemented to simplify and reduce what is demanded of the students with regard to the SAT test.

The main test will also be revised soon, making the SAT test streamlined and more flexible. This will enable the students to attend this exam digitally.

Some leaders voicing their opinion for college admissions have come to the conclusion that results of SAT or ACT tests aren’t necessary to choose a class. It was opined so by considering the possibility of worthy applicants being driven away only due to these testing requirements.

Also, it’s been observed that fewer colleges were actually looking forward to test-takers attending them.
