  • 1,800 Indian chefs and yoga instructors to be issued a four years visa under the Australia-India treaty.

Australia-India treaty

Under the India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA), 1800 Indian chefs and yoga instructors will be issued a four years visa in Australia.

These candidates will be able to live, work, and stay in Australia for four years. However, the entry and the stay will be temporary, and they must meet the relevant eligibility criteria before entering the country.

Expectations of the Agreement

The Australia-India treaty aims to boost the bilateral trade between India and Australia. The trade value is expected to grow from $31 billion to more than $45-50 billion in the next five years.

The Australian market will become accessible for Indian goods on all tariff lines at no customs duty. The Federation of Indian Export Organisations estimates Indian exports to Australia to reach $15 billion by 2025. Also, the services are expected to grow to US$ 10 billion by 2025.

100,000 Indian students to be benefitted for up to 4 years from the post-study work visas in Australia on a reciprocal basis. Another 1000+ Indians between 18 and 30 years with a Work and Holiday Visa or a backpacker visa will be accepted by the country to work on a holiday.
