New test dates for CELPIP exams follows Canada’s 6 new PR streams

Ontario adopts new EOI system, makes immigration process better

Ontario opens new EOI system for immigration

Ontario has started a new EOI system that is applied to 2 of its Canada provincial immigration programs. These 2 streams in the Employer Job Offer category of OINP are:

  • International student
  • Foreign worker

OINP has plans to open the EOI system for the following streams in the future:

  • D. Graduate
  • Masters Graduate
  • In-Demand Skills

What does this mean for Ontario immigration?

As opposed to the earlier system with OINP, candidates willing to eventually apply for Canada immigration via Ontario’s PNPs can now submit an EOI profile at any time. Earlier this could be done only after the online portal was opened by OINP.

Based on the scores assigned to the candidates’ profiles, OINP will invite candidates to apply for a provincial nomination. The EOI profile registered has a validity of 12 months, after which the EOI will be removed automatically from the system.

The scores given for EOI profiles are based on factors such as education, wage, the region in which the candidate studies or works, and language skills. 10 points are granted as per its discretion for responding to the province’s labor market requirements.

The reasons behind Ontario switching to an EOI system

  • The province was in need of a new system of selecting immigrants for its PNPs that operates beyond the Express Entry System.
  • The province wanted to change from its old system that worked on a “first come first served” basis.

The new EOI selection system has been approved for application in the spring of 2021.

New test dates for CELPIP exams follows Canada’s 6 new PR streams

New dates for CELPIP exams in Canada

Amid high demand for the CELPIP test, Canada has announced new test dates for the exam. This followed the announcement by the Canadian government of starting 6 new Canada immigration pathways to Canada PR for international graduates and foreign workers in Canada.

The details of the new test dates have been announced by CELPIP on Twitter on April 26, 2021. CELPIP Canada has stated that it has worked in collaboration with test center partners to deliver an improved experience around registering for the test. CELPIP’s centralized operations have helped it to respond to prospective permanent residents to get entry into a test in the last week.

The increasing demand for CELPIP test

The demand is high for new immigration programs in Canada. This is evident from the fact that hundreds of international graduates and essential workers are expected to submit applications.

IRCC has instructed all prospective applicants to the new programs to keep all necessary documents including language test results ready when applying.

The 6 new immigration streams will offer Canada permanent visa pathways to approximately 90,000 international graduates and foreign workers currently present in Canada. The programs will also benefit French-speaking candidates.

Essential workers willing to work in Canada must have a minimum of CLB 4 to qualify for the programs. International graduates must have at least CLB 5 to qualify.

From May 6, 2021, Canada will begin to accept applications. The immigration programs will either close on November 5, 2021, or end once the quota of applicants is exhausted.
